Bowls often gets a bad rap, thought of as an 'old man's pastime' played in whites. Our aim is to make it a great game whatever your age or ability. Bowls can be as competitive as you want or as relaxed. The rules are fairly simple: roll your bowl closer to the jack than your opponent. Come in, and we'll teach you the rest…
We are planning to add croquet to the club! If you're interested in croquet, keep an eye on this website, or join our WhatsApp group (see below).
We are holding introductory sessions every Thursday at 5pm in June and July (come back and check for August and September). They're free, and you're welcome to bring friends and family.
Just check on our WhatsApp group to make sure that the session hasn't been changed or cancelled because of bad weather.
Located on the edge of Sheen Common and about 20 yards from Richmond Park, there probably isn't a bowls club with a better location in the whole of London. Hardly a building to be seen, you're overlooked by loads of trees – and not a computer in sight!
Breathe deep and enjoy nature while hanging out with friends and meeting like-minded people.
If you want to host an event where your guests (kids or adults) have a social activity as well as talking, drinking and eating, then the facilities this club provides are perfect.
You've got a beautiful outdoor setting, a kitchen/dining space that can sit 15-20 people at a time, loads of outdoor space, 20 sets of bowls and a croquet set that you can try out.
Just to be clear, this is not a picture of our club yet, but it is what we are working towards.
Thanks to Greville Smyth Community Bowls Club of Bristol for letting us use this picture (and another picture, and some of their wording too).
All free, no obligation.
And we've got 20 sets of bowls and a croquet set that you can try out.
This club is run by volunteers who give up their time to keep the game alive in our area. All support is gratefully received.
